Adjectives

I binge on adjectives
letting them linger
rolling them on my tongue
like I did that day
you painted your toenails
in the August heat
with your legs drawn up
and I saw the damp spot
on those peach cotton panties
when that summer dress
refused to fall
past your thighs.
