And So I Dream

 

I dream of a world
in which peace is a sincere idea
not selective as to enrich a modern
form of empire

I smile in the interaction of children
who obviously see dark and light skin
but aren’t caught up in stereotypes
and generalizations

I cringe at the deeds of people
of supposedly all degrees of ideology
who base progress purely by material gain
and the ability to play games

I bask in the glow of artists
musicians, writers and the like
who freely share talents with others
and are always growing

I empathize with those who
value gentleness and cooperation
transcending game theory
and survival of the fittest

I praise those who do their best
ironically to avoid the spotlight
wanting others to shine
and not obsessed with who gets credit

I try to understand my flaws
a process like education and wisdom
always going on
and thankful I had at least this day...
