I Can't Save You
Nothing you have is ever good enough
You're always on the run
But now I see the cracks in your armor as you try to act so tough
Shattering bravado will only last for so long
I won't be there to keep you safe
I won't be there to keep you sane
Missed phone calls, unread texts
Go run and tell the rest
The damage is done
Bitter words still left on my tongue
Go run, go run back to him
We were on your side
We stood by you
We picked up the shatter pieces and mended you back together
We won't feel sorry for you
So tell me the truth, was it worth watching your friends give up on you
Go run, go run back to him
When he tells you he never wanted you
When he tells you 727 miles of distance was more than enough
I won't be there
When his fist hits the wall
When your flesh becomes the drywall
When his hands wrap around your neck
Followed by endless threats
I won't be there to catch you when you fall
When the bruises bloom and lips split
I can't save you
Stop telling yourself he will change, stop telling yourself you can save him
Why would you leave my bed for someone who fucks with your head
Why cause your heart so much misery
Why would you let go of the warm hands of your friends for split bloody knuckles that would strike you over and over again
So ashamed, so confused
Left broken, mangled and bruised
Don't be his maryter, don't be his sacrificial lamb
I begging you, I feel it in my bones
The sick sinking feeling of losing you is becoming all too real
Please, stay
Please, don't go
You're always on the run
But now I see the cracks in your armor as you try to act so tough
Shattering bravado will only last for so long
I won't be there to keep you safe
I won't be there to keep you sane
Missed phone calls, unread texts
Go run and tell the rest
