ORDINARY

Morning salutations
Behind a face of smoke
Black coffee, now lukewarm
Rests in front of me

I sit, gently twisting the cup
To vacantly gaze at the swirls

I wonder if he made it
Through the night
But I've not yet
Received the message

For now, and up until that point
It's just another ordinary day
