Secrets and Innocence
Innocence once taken can not be returned
You can’t borrow a child’s innocence giving it back
It should never be ‘Our little secret’ ever
To take a child’s innocence is bad enough
But then to beat and torture that child
And make him live a life of constant fear
Is unforgivable, unspeakable an inexcusable
The cycle of abuse is a lie made up by lawyers
And bought and paid for psychiatrist ‘experts’
Trying to get sympathy for the non deserving
And lighter sentences for evil men and women
The child that has been truly violently deflowered
The child that has been beaten, used and abused
Would rather die than commit such evil acts
A forced loss of innocence puts real victims
On a difficult but opposite path from their abusers
Forgiveness should not be an option regardless
Of what they tell you.
It’s ok to hate, to seek revenge or not
Nobody owns your path to sanity and peace
You must own it and go your own way
These things never disappear from memory
But peace and contentment are more than possible
If you remember the first and most important rule
Absolutely none of this was ever your fault
Your abusers fate, if any, is yours to decide
It is you that actually has power over them
Use it as you see fit; I will stand with you regardless
But to me the saddest secrets are
The ones like this that are kept

The keeping of secrets required of children should only ever be little giggles and happy things. There are things that should not only never be hidden away in the dark but it should never ever happen at all. Children should be protected and cherished. These are hard truths you speak, David. Innocence is irreplaceable and should be respected as precious and inviolable. Fierce hugs, my friend, so fierce

My only regret in all this is not telling on the guilty parties :-( who knows if they carried on after I got away - that thought haunts me :-( thank you :-) Huge HUGS! :-)

The hardest thing for me to ever do was actually talk about my abuse the first time. It was six years after it had ended and I received the “proper outrage” from my parents, but no support and I spent another twenty years in silence and pain. Finally processing everything some thirty three years later is helping me, but thirty three years of shit is a deep pile to shovel. I wholeheartedly agree that our children’s innocence should be safeguarded. But when it is too lat it should be our society’s moral imperative, their obligation, to help fix that child. I needed to know that it was not my fault, I needed people on my side. This one touches me deeply.

from the cheep seats - "It is never, I repeat never the child's fault" remember you were a victim in all this as was I - it took you great courage to tell your story and I treasure that story :-) thank you my friend :-)
I agree so much about the secrets. And it's so commonplace. One of the reasons I left the pursuit of a career in law ( other than discovering money could buy justice ) was because of how victims were labeled.
We all need to think about our language when referring to victims, especially children. They hear us say how tainted they now are . . .how they're no longer inno cent because it's been stolen.
But to me they are not tainted; they are just as pure and beautiful as they ever were. Innocence isn't a hymen ( or anus ). . .and they didn't give anything away. They are still innocent.
Sometimes I think our labels, said out of fury and the injustice done to them causes as much damage as the action.
