Is it Wisdom, Or just My Wisdom? 7.0
(i) Self
It matters not
what you are
It’s what you
are becoming
That is important
(ii) Change
Active, positive and
deliberate change
Of self is always
to be celebrated
But not necessarily
copied by others
(iii) Love
Love is not all you need
It needs to be a two way street
And the same level of loves
Must be clearly exhibited
Anything else is pretence
(iv) Tough Lovin
The most difficult person
to love
Is ourselves
even when we
pretend to lie
We know that truth
(v) Hate
Only a coward or
The mentally confused
Flee from hatred
Sometimes hatred
Is deserved
(vi) Forgiveness
Only a fool
Forgives because
They are told to
Forgiveness like respect
Has to be earned
Sorry about that!
(vii) The Same
Physically we are not all the same
We are not all equal
From our genes to our bones
Why do we pretend to be
Exactly what we are not
in so doing we make a
mockery of diversity
and uniqueness

Stanza IV...man, you are not kidding on that one. I can give you a thousand reasons why you're perfectly lovable and worthy and struggle to find even 5 about myself at times. Which makes me sad for those who have no one. Who points out their worth and their beauty to them when they can't find it themselves? Great write, my friend. Big country mouse hugs! :)

thank you so much Ash glad you could relate to some or all of the micro poems / quotes :-) Huge Big Hugs :-)
I have re-titled this series based on all the comments - this was it's original title and I shortened it - but I think this revised title sets up this series better - It may well be wisdom or it may be just my wisdom or it may be both - giving the reader a choice There are more contentious things to come in this series :-)

Things we all need to hear and think about. From big Scottish bears comes wisdom. I definitely agree with you and Ash, loving yourself is the hardest thing to do. It is something I have been trying to work on here lately.
Thank you for the write.

It is definitely one of the hardest tasks for a thinking person - you certainly seem strong enough to face that one - I hope I am right - if not, I am always here to help, any way I can :-)

I shall look forward for something we can debate upon, because I love peeking within your mind, for oft times your thoughts alter mine. :-)

I like it .. I'd only disagree slightly with (i),
it's important what we are,
what we've done,
and, moving on,
we shouldn't forget the chaos we've caused
behind us ..

Yeah I like that and I was going to ask to use it but then it dawned on me - what I wrote was my wisdom and what you wrote was your wisdom - both can live together as long as we don't choose to fall out over it :-)
Thank you wise man :-)

This is a wonderful collection of wise thoughts, David. It's very Zenlike in nature.
A few thoughts:
(vi) Forgiveness
Only a fool
Forgives because
They are told to
Forgiveness like respect
Has to be earned
Sorry about that!
I believe Forgiveness isn't about the other person. It's about self so the bitter resentment over the action doesn't permeate our being. It's about letting go to move forward, not forgetting what was done.
I can see this logic applied to trust.
(vii) The Same
We are not all the same
We are not all equal
From our genes to our bones
Why do we pretend to be
Exactly what we are not
We are not the same in our outward physical composition ( and inward DNA attributes ), with the exception of certain organs, i.e. - two hearts lying side by side. . .which is whose?
But I do believe spiritually we are all the same, and part of this human experience.
Thanks for the read.

(vi) Forgiveness
I understand what you are saying and it may be right, but I deliberately chose that as my path a very long time ago and it sits almost contently in my mind - there are a small number of people I chose not to forgive because they had not been punished for their crimes and there were no apologies - without them I don't forgive (ever) I managed for over 40 years with those decisions and that pathway despite being told that I had to forgive. It is only more difficult now with the onset of PTSD as a result of surgical trauma - I am sure I would have went happily to the grave with these choices - I already had moved on despite conventional wisdom :-)
(vii) The Same
I agree with you totally here* and now I would change one word to satisfy what I was thinking about at the time :-)
* I haven't thought enough about spiritually enough yet to totally agree with that too :-)
thank you so much :-)
Ps. I have actually added 11 words (LOL)

Re. Is it Wisdom? 7.0
What thought-provoking and revealing verses you have supplied here...
(iv) Tough Lovin
“even when we
pretend to lie
We know that truth”
— What do you mean here, or what does this mean to you?
(vii) The Same — I think some people pretend because they are afraid to acknowledge the advantages or disadvantages they may have with another.
Though I am in agreement with (i) (ii) (iii) and what I understand of (iv)...
I would respond respectfully as follows:
(v) Hatred — an individual may commit unspeakable acts, and deserve justice upon them, but must hatred be the response? Does hatred not hurt the expressor more than the individual targeted? Fleeing from hatred may be just as unhealthy- indeed an act of cowardice or confusion- but honest reflection may prove hatred unnecessary.
(vi) Forgiveness — I must agree with Ahavarti’s retort (including your concept here perhaps better applied to Trust), and also reference cold_fusion’s recent “way above it all” and my response therein.
(vii) The Same — This is one of those subjects where I might apply a contradictory concept of “both the same as well as different.” For a long time I held a view that “we all have the same potential”... but this just isn’t true. I believe we all may have the same basic makeup, but our choices as well as circumstances produce very unique individuals. The emphasis I would like to add here, however, is that we are all in this together, we are all human.
Overall an exquisite expression of foundations, enticing more response than expected.
Much respect, David, for you to engage in such honest topic, again and again.

(v) Tough Lovin
(a) when we lie we know the truth
(b) even when we pretend to lie (double bluff) we still know the truth - Ex I was asked to day how was I feeling, I new I was feeling like shit and I also new that a truthful answer was not what was required so I said I was feeling shit knowing it was the truth and they thought it was a lie because it was unexpected. also ex I know I am a horrible person when I pretend that I am not most believe it but I know the truth and then when I tell people I am a horrible person they think I am joking but I still know the truth - now even my head is sore (lol)
the thrust being that regardless of what we say we always know the truth about ourselves
(v) Hatred - - hatred only hurts the expressor when conventional wisdom makes them feel guilty about hating even when it is righteous. - no one should ever flee from hatred they should either embrace it as one of their children or reject it if they feel it not productive, so in that sense you are right so may see it as not productive or counter productive - for me it gives me a little peace and contentment and no guilt
(vi) Forgiveness - - -
I understand what you are saying and it may be right, but I deliberately chose that as my path a very long time ago and it sits almost contently in my mind - there are a small number of people I chose not to forgive because they had not been punished for their crimes and there were no apologies - without them I don't forgive (ever) I managed for over 40 years with those decisions and that pathway despite being told that I had to forgive. and even with the changes I would even take issue and do when people say 'we are all humans' I say most of us are himan but some of us are more animal than human and some of us are worse than animals :-)

Re: Re. Is it Wisdom? 7.0
As invested into this discussion as we were, your response deserves some further comment :)
(iv) Tough Lovin
-- Thank you for your elaboration here, I do completely understand this statement, as my recent posts can attest to. And though you made your point for me, now I just have to say- even though others may have said it and don't believe it (like myself)... I cannot fathom you being a truly "horrible person" David! Don't get me wrong... I have contemplated how- what I know of you is only through a virtual connection, and I have never had to see you hangry! We can all turn into monsters when we are low. But from what I gather of your unabashed proclamations upon this virtual connection... you might better be described as mischievous, a button-pusher, or (forgive me here) a martyr. Your expressions are a brutal truth and a blinding light, and unfortunately some people may not vibe with that!
All else I will say to this- is that though we may think we are certain of our own truths, it's always wise to occasionally reevaluate our own self-perceptions.
(v) Hatred
-- I have a slant of opinion here due to my conviction and true experience of a particular philosophy pertaining to hatred. However, I must say that your elaboration here does seem to justify the means, and because of this I persist lightly here, only to elaborate on my own standpoint- The emotion of anger or hatred releases hormones within the human body that degenerate it's functions (physically and mentally) which is why even if one may find solace in justifying their hatred, it could have implications unbeknownst to them (physically or mentally) that may appear even years later from a slow accumulation of unresolved stress.
(vi) Forgiveness
-- I'm sorry to hear that you are in the grips of PTSD. I also can understand that if viewing a particular value (like forgiveness) in a specific way for so many years has actually worked for you- proven through authentic experience- then that is all that can be said :) Conventional wisdom does not always apply in a world such that we live in today.
(vii) The Same
-- My opinion here would reinforce yours :)
