Waiting Blackbirds

Autumn with Jacob coat
wraps us in the glory that is colour
shades long hidden in tranquil greens
shades beyond our imaginings
mixed by children with yellow in
class-room classes to,blue ,stains
for mother to rinse away from blouses,
trousers shoes and finger nails.
Tomorrow red and yellow will turn
to orange  heralding sunny afternoons..
A chill in the morning breeze quickens,
October, now half gone, crab apples
red once yellow, shine bending branches
soon dance to winter storms, rustic girations
throwing fruits for waiting blackbirds.
fat with snail and careless worms.
