Crossing Murky Waters

Crossing Murky Waters on a blustery Autumn eve
Conflicting waves stain the fabric in the tapestry you weave
How can I ease your mind in these turbulent lonely times
With so much distance between the spoken words within my rhymes?
Planks on your decaying boardwalk are so few and far between
I fear you'll fall into the cracks walking where you've never been
When your path is one I've walked I can't help but want to be your guide
Yet I know you must be the one to take each step in spite of how wide
Still I want to impart you with the confidence missing in your doubting mind
That you can make this journey even if the darkness makes you blind
For the light within you will cast it's glow no matter where you go
So even in the dead of Winter your heart will melt away the snow
And if you should slip on an icy patch let my presence break your fall
Together we will skate the frozen lakes if we have to get down and crawl
I would slip and slide right by your side if I had to do it on my knees
Taking comfort that Spring will come along with the song of birds and buzzing bees
