Her Skyman  ... in loving memory 🦋

He finds her alone
Slipping through that thin veil
The Open portal,
That is her heart
On a wisp of air
Catch of his scent
A touch light as a feather
Brushes her cheek

Sometimes his spirit
Is strong enough to show itself
Still he gazes at her
with those beautiful blues
Like he is seeing her
For the first time
Laying down beside her
To keep her safe

This time a curve appears
On silenced lips
And yet he speaks to her
Those three words he
Whispered in her ear
Everyday upon awakening
Just to be sure she would never forget

"I love you"

/// ///

He fell in love with her eyes
The way she sang to him,
The way she laughed at his humor
And dried his tears
Finding comfort in resting
upon her shoulder
Or with his head
Against her breast,
Taking in the steady rhythm
Of her heart
That beat stronger
Just for him,
When she would surprise
Him with her run, leap and roll
Her head landing perfectly into
The crevice of his shoulder
That fit her almost too perfectly
An indentation created maybe in
Another time ...
Made just for her
Gazing up into his beautiful smile,
How she would dance
Into his arms and climb
Into his always waiting lap
Kissing him until he
Would carry her away...
How she touched his soul
With the most tender caress
How he brought out the best
Of her,
Two wild souls intertwined

How he looked at her in
Those last moments
With so much love in his eyes
Her hand holding his so tightly
Not wanting to let go, or the crushing
Sadness reach her eyes, him
Not knowing it would be the last time
He saw her, when they wheeled him away
Their last words hanging
In chilly air

/// ///

In such a short time they
Had lived a life time
Making up for all the love lost
Elsewhere
No matter what, she will
Always have that
And the echo of his love
In her heart,
That still calls to her

"I love you"
