what do you do for living?
.... and when they asked me
what do you do
for a living?
i replied
i write poems
i laugh
i cry
i scream
i sing
then they asked well
but how do you afford this big city life?
i replied
this big city is for survivalists
and survival is what i do here
my day job goes a long way
in doing so
well they said, then
isn't that what you call
earning a living?
i replied
with a deep sigh..
and cold air escaping the nostrils
no that is plain, simple
survival
that is not living
or 'a' living
or for a living.

living.

Prioritizing life's responsibilities is essential to existence.
It is the ones who place playing before surviving who lose out on living.

the serpent biting it's tail.

This resonates with me; living as though a job & money is all that life is, is not living at all. Too few in my life see this, and it can be isolating. I appreciate your perspective of working survivalism. Thank you for sharing your words!

growing up in london constantly felt that way and it still does to a certain extent, it's always just about scraping by knowing you have enough but it makes you grateful for what you do have even if it's less than what others may posses, i certainly wouldn't miss seeing loved ones just for an extra bit in my wage packet, jobs are replaceable, humans aren't
