Composure, and clenched jaws

Do you find
A longing here?
Do you feel
A place
Disgrace
In case you’re found
here?

Call it what you will
It is murder
Slashes and
Ashes
And sweet buds
Bursting from
our lungs

Does it make you
Laugh?
Shrill delight
Fighting
Your tendons straining
With the weight
of it all

It is blood,
pulse and pupils
all flooding
It is ballet
on bruised toes
Composure
And clenched
jaws

Do you find
you are alive here?
That gush
Of fire above
The coals
Thorns below
The rose

Do you?

I do
