Blue Bird ( The Prisoner )
Don’t go little bird, don’t go
Stay little bird, please stay
Warm with me beside the fire
Sing me songs of sky and clouds
Cypress trees and yellow sands
Tell me what the cattle said and skylark gossip
Stories tell to fill the time but don’t go, don’t go,
.
Stay little bird, I will make a nest of gold
Lined all in satin, hung with lace
With sheets of butterfly wings
Pillows stuffed with fur of bees,
For you little bird, for you.
Delight my dark and weary vigil,
As I wait the dawning of a dream
Bring me the balm of southern seas
Smiling sky and mirror lagoon
To drown the unpitying pat of rain
Stay little bird, stay,
.
I have no wings as you, pedestrian my going;
Carry me on wings of dreams
To all you know I have not seen.
I will bring you poppy seeds
Forget- me-not and mignonette
Drinks of honeysuckle dew
Distilled in the tears of weeping birch
Grey dry leaves of Artemis
To scent your bed, if you will stay.
Ssssssssssh ! heed not those songs
Rest, and I shall make a cage of ivory
Glazed all about with crystal
A mirror wall will company you
In case you tire of me.
Ssssssh my darling, heed not
They are sweet, can’t we listen here?
Here its warm and still
No winds to blow, no rain to soak
I have no cat and the fox has gone
Stay safe with me ,
let me kiss your fluffy breast
cool my cheek on your soft neck
Heed not those songs,
Blue angel stay, please stay
