Small trouble in the Big City
People still talk about the 9/11 thing
Though I can't quite feel grief for it
Neither can I whine about anything else.
I remember seeing it on Tv
I was in my grandma's house, the old house
A pivotal moment in slow motion
A building I'd seen before in a familiar place
And people still talk about the 9/11 thing
The Americans: hurt, distraught, frigthened, angry
Those faceless terrorists: Happy? Gloating? Grinning?
The Europeans: detracted, a melting pot of second-hand emotions
The English: Consoling their younger brother
And still people talk about the 9/11 thing
Except now the Americans still grieve
The Europeans have other worries
England consoles still like a brother
Wondering in the back of its if they'll get over it
Like a death in the family that they were never close to
And people still talk about the 9/11 thing
But more importantly some people remember, and remeber why.
