The Shining

these red halls wrap themself
round body
and constrict breathe
a hollow squeeeze
that echoes death
while its mirrors
like cold blue eyes.....
hold its ghosts for ransom
they waltz in haunting twist
wound tight and twirling deathly cold pivot
to this old places song
a dulcet music box lullaby of lies
lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies
my pretty young wife
her eyes twitch restless REM
searching madly around convoluted grey corners for our son
but i see him
O Danny boy...
Daddys home
wandering the same red hell bitch corridors
they beat evil in my temple
veins kept rich by the heartbeats of a long gone generation
who laughed and danced
unaware madness was their captor
they played on into the after
and i witness their nightly celebration
welcomed into their dapper fold
but my frolic and new found naivety
are so carelessly .....
rudely ....

interrupted by responsibility
my fidelity trembles as i wield my frustration like an axe
announcing my reach
towards young Dannys back

but his shrug is driven by gifted intuition
his small feet fight forward
and out of reach
of the redrum heartbeat
this old hotel
this forgotten place
pounds in my rotting brain
