Friends and Lovers
We're closer now than ever we've been
Holding strong two lights that burn
Down the darkest roads and dead ends
We'll walk on without a turn
The best of friends
There are times I see a beauty
Transcending perfect friendships
I dream of you in a nighty
The lace off your shoulder slips
OHhh so pretty!
I held you sleeping as you were
Lost in thought, you in my arms
Yet it seemed no more than a blur
Seeing myself in my dreams
As your lover
Making love on a straight beam
We could do it, you and me
As long as we both share our dreams
I don't see why we can't be

I enjoyed this poem because I always liked the concept of being lovers and friends at the same time. I think love can lasts a lot longer when you're friends too. Getting to know someone on a "friend" level adds intimacy to the love life in my opinion. :)

my problem has always been the friends without the lovers part. it's one thing to dream about it, want it and then face the reality of loneliness.
