Repeat Offender

He suffers the daily horror
The lunacy of L.A. nights
Trying to serve and to protect
The weak, the old, the innocent
But the putrescence of the city streets
Assails him with every turn
Another "good kill" on his sheet
One that he would rather burn

She stands in a halo of light
No angel but his love
She pours the Cuervo, lights a blunt
And listens to his latest horrors
His need dispels the thoughts of blood
Soon as they can find the bed
She guides him 'til he slips inside
Rage held at bay with every thrust
His demons fading as he comes
Driven into darkness
Escorted back to maximum hell
Tried and sentenced, locked away
The cop is more than satisfied
Embracing his sweet suspect
The repeat offender who keeps him sane.
