Lava Song

I've lived a lifetime
following an unknown song;
a fathomless resonation of Truth
churning the volcano
of my Solar Plexus;

that many-pointed Starfish
of Lava pulsing Truth against
this thin cuticle of epidermis

Treading lightly around eruptions
mistrust and mistakes
toward its highest pinnacle of Sound
learning along the way:

Despite how hard I may try
I cannot be everything I want
to anyone but myself

I cannot match the beauty
of Love You sang to me
so I'll return the essence
through ancient memory

I cannot be Moon and Sun
so give to me the Stars
that my light not burn Your eyes
nor wane in darkest doubt

I cannot be Ocean and Earth
so give to me their Oxygen
that Your Breath can be sustained
wherever Love may lead

I cannot be Shakespeare and Oliver
so give me Myself, honestly
that I may express Truthfully
my Heart in Wisdom and Trust
