When Darkness Creeps
I need to be alone
When the darkness creeps
As it is all consuming
Caring not what it reaps
Aware of its brutality
A force anticipated
Able to hold my own
When feeling suffocated
But with you my darling
I cannot bear to see
You grapple with the demons
A sounder match for me
My true hell exists
In watching you endure
The pain that rises in me
For which you have no cure
It is not out of disloyalty
That I beg of you to leave
But because I cannot stand
To be the reason that you grieve

Excellent, Mel. The flow in this illustrates the strides you have made in writing compared to earlier submissions.

I cant tell you how much I connect to this poem (sadly) I am currently dealing with the same kind of darkness and feeling the need to sacrifice :-(
