THE DEVOTION AND THE RELEASE
I heard the funeral songs from across the veldt
The agony and sadness felt rend hearts asunder
Is it suicide or murder that motivate you
To live your truth in throes of madness?
Die with me and I’ll die for you
As the razor kisses the flesh
The devotion and the release
I never wanted to live this way
In this world with one foot in the grave
The devotion and the release
Gave too much, so much I sacrifice
The pain of love that was never mine
Follow the path of the apathetic nightmare
Fabric of reality tears between dawn and dusk
When the cold moon touches the husk left behind the dead
Inside my head of this tragedy
Show me life as it should be
And I’ll tighten the noose for you
The devotion and the release
I never wanted to live this way
In this world with one foot in the grave
The devotion and the release
Gave too much, so much I sacrifice
The pain of love that was never mine
I hear the whispers
The questions for God
“Why must this be so?”
They fall on deaf ears
The devotion and the release
I never wanted to live this way
In this world with one foot in the grave
The devotion and the release
Gave too much, so much I sacrifice
The pain of love that was never mine
