From Arizona to New York

Catching snowflakes on my tongue like razor blades
Stars dancing in the charcoaled blue
Mocking me

& if they grasped my chest any tighter
I just might choke on their beauty
Because who I am to deny a request from the heavens
If that truly be their origin

For they hide in the grayish hues
Playing tricks on my eyes
Optical illusions
Enough to muffle out my screams
& make me believe in their false prophesies

So I stitch my heart to my sleeve
Hoping the blood trickling down my fingertips
Would go unnoticed
Though it worked quite beautifully
For writing your name in the sky

I should have known better
Than to leave my love at your doorstep
I thought for sure you'd look down
Before it was trampled
Before cramming it back down my throat

Sometimes
I'd like to stab this pen into my temple
Just to feel something
Anything
Other than this

Because I stand now on the sidelines
& somehow I never got used to the view from here..
