'Swallow the Yellow Brick Road'
Life,
what a 'drag-on'
sentence...
for the few have got
far more have not
what's the goin'
rate for penance?
That membranophone
in the shell's home
stricken far off key
but that's more oft
the outcome when
feelin' alone...
Decadent descent
Drizzlin' deliberately
with dazzlin' intent
to reconvene in solitude's
cavernous tent...
Life, a fuckfest for
the foolish, seekin'
simply the embrace
of sole content...

Beautiful, PD ... I love the line break after the second line. Great alliteration in the third stanza. The final line break is epic ... "sole content" I imagine hearing it and also hearing its homonym "soul." Ms. Gale approves!

Re. 'Swallow the Yellow Brick Road'
I felt very sad reading this, PoetikOne.
It seems almost a ballad of hopelessness
going nowhere in Life's yellow brick road.
And it does seem that way at times.
The rich get richer, the poor continue
to struggle and die from lack of.
A majority of People don't seem
to know the meaning of Love any longer,
appearing out for only themselves.
There are very few with compassion and
understanding, which extend a helping
hand to those in dire need.
People cross the street to avoid the
homeless. Children are abused and
molested.
It's a tough world we Live; however,
as long as there's Love I'll believe. Even
if it's animal Love vs human
I'll believe in better.
And as long as there are sites such as
this, where Poetry and people matter,
I'll believe in better.
And as long as there are caring and
genuine people such as yourself,
PoetikOne, I'll believe in better.
I'll Believe.

What a creative piece it is! Enjoy reading this!
But... what is life? Such a novel definition from your pen....."Decadent descent Drizzlin' deliberately ....to reconvene in solitude's
cavernous tent..."; "a fuckfest for the foolish.....the embrace
of sole content..."
I know many thing are unfair, but don't be sad. You are not alone, my friend. I am always there!

A sad commentary on the rat race in which we scurry and the empty prize awarded to the ones consumed only with their own placement within the field.
Love the metaphors used here.
Excellent write!!

"in the days of my youth I was told what it means to be a man, now I reached that age I try to do the best I can"
that right there , what you wrote, should be taught in Poetry class. brilliant work .
