Old School In A New Day

For some time now I've been
Searching for an old school connection
Some real life affection
So one day I woke up
Decided to take a bold step
And go outside wireless-less
Yes! You heard me!
And I must confess
I felt quite the naked
I could barely take it
Reaching instinctively for my holster
To find there's no phone
So I had to bolster my confidence
To go out alone
Into that void
That drifting sea of humanity
Where some seemed buoyed
Some annoyed
With cellies in hand..heads buried
As they hurried and scurried about

But one woman stood out
Looking simply outstanding
Her posture not at all demanding
But commanding mad respect
Mmmm hm!
Now let me reflect
On how she would softly inspect me
With her eyes...
And I...
I returned her gaze
And we...
We delved into a maze
of our own making
Shifting..turning
Sorting through an assortment of Souls
Knit picking
Kicking the dust off antiquated customs
Goin back to basic 'boy meet girl' rules
Kickin it old school
With just our eyes alone...
And through this magical maze
A path was shown
A secret trail that led
To each others' hearts

So as the man
I start to make my way over to her
Through this foliage of people
So I can introduce myself
And we can initiate a sexy sequel
To our little imaginary dance
Let's enhance the mood
Over dinner perhaps?
Imbibe the most exquisite wine
Dine on succulent food
Engage in sensuous dialog
Under the seductive ambiance
Of a slow burning fire log
igniting the flames
Of our unspoken passion...

Yeah dawg!...
All this ran through my mind
As I gave her my super-cool
Mac daddy walk (yeah right)
But before I could to talk
Her eyes grew cold
Our steamy connection..
Put on hold
As she pulled her phone
from the folds of her purse
Her voice was terse
As she began to converse
And I'm quite sure I heard her curse
Now why did she suddenly seem so bothered?
Well whaddaya know..
It was her stalkin ass baby's father..
Talkin 'bout some next shit
On some real live DMX shit like..
'I luv my baby muvah I'll nevah let her go..'
And on that note bro...
I had to let her go..
And with her...
Our imaginary old school connection...
It was nice while it lasted though..lol
