The Bridge
Every day... The bridge
I drive across a fragile line
My sanity is tested
Will I come home today?
But she's been fine!
She's put on weight
She saw her friend just yesterday
Is that another poem dear?
Every hour... The bridge
Goddammit, it's you
Will you win this time?
Ugh, just let me lose...
Oh, but she isn't crazy
This medication is working wonders!
We'll up her dose some more
Pick up the prescription on Tuesday
Every minute... The bridge
I'm beginning to feel it
My adrenaline is kicking
Will I see the Lord today?
We're by her side, she's alright
The doctors are treating her now
We nearly lost her, found her unconscious
But now, she's okay...
Every second... The bridge
That God forsaken bridge
I think I'm fucking okay
I will come home tonight

Since I am in touch with a Fairlie-Loving person I just had to read and comment.
"The Bridge" can mean many different things, I am thinking this "Bridge" has a lot in common with you. I enjoyed reading your poem. Truly I did.
