See The Light

In the shadowy darkness, I see a light
I crawl and crawl, with all my forced might
Further away it seems, that small dim glowing beam
Struggling to reach the end, only to start all over again.
Pouring sweat of tears and pain, one small step I must gain
Stopping I can’t conceive, no one to help but only me.
My mind twirling in and out, I scream, curse and even shout.
No one answers as I continue my fight, I must make it one more night.
Bloody hands with bloody knees, moment to moment, without ease
Hope is all I have left, but it’s mine and immune from theft.
One more pace I make, one more shivering shake.
Closer now it appears, or is it just the drumming in my ears
I see it clearly now, push harder I whisper, with my silent vow
Giving up is not for me, I will climb, scratch claw until I see
The shining brightness that waits for only me.
