Empowerment
When you touch someone
Who never asked to be touched
You're teaching her
That her body is not
Within her scope of control.
When you describe to someone
In gross detail
What you would do to her
When she is simply out
To forget her pain
You're teaching her
That she is an object
Unworthy of respect.
When you kiss someone
Who is obviously uncomfortable
Without grace, without gentility
You're teaching her
To be afraid of strangers,
Of men,
Of love.
When you tell someone
That you see potential
For something good and constant
And then proceed to use her
For her time in bed,
Only speaking to her after to tell her
The distance is just too much.
I'm not ready for something serious.
This is such a curveball.
You're teaching her
That people are not trustworthy
And she will never be enough.
When you fuck someone
Who is so drunk that she
Can't keep her eyes open
Or utter a single word,
You're teaching her
That she's nothing.
Dehumanized,
Void.
Who never asked to be touched
You're teaching her
That her body is not
Within her scope of control.
When you describe to someone

When she is simply out
To forget her pain
