Christmas On the Street 9-27-16
The snow is asleep,
But the children have awoken
Their eager smiles surely bright,
All I have is one measly token.
The joy of the day is not lost upon many,
But I am a small woman with a lousy penny,
What good is joy if I am alone?
Thunderous laughter and girly giggles,
Upon pie and pastries,
Wide eyes gleaming in delight,
Oh, I hear it all from down the street.
Under wing of green of green bird,
How quaint of them, how absurd,
I wonder if they wonder,
About the woman filled with somber,
If they have given any thought
To what had pulled me under.
