'Send In the Fools'

i know i'm a nerd
     and she's out of my league
to court, so absurd.

one night as a friend
     she invites me to her home
just to shoot the shit.

her and her boyfriend
     in the middle of a fight
shout at each other.

bad timing indeed
     after he calls her a freak
because of the speed.

'you dumb bitch', he says
     she cries and yells at him, 'stop!'
as he throws her things.

she then says to me
     still think i'm out of your league?
tears stream down her face.

crying and shaking
     i stare into space in shock
she just looked pretty.

please, send in the fools
     looking for, doesn't exist
don't bother, i'm here ....
