Disquieting Ruminations
in her mind
what's the point of giving
her a feeling that's undeniable
if it's unreliable
cuz in the end
she's still gonna be held liable
for the collateral damage
left alone to pick up the pieces
and regain her peace
if he turns out to be
just like the rest
he brought out the best in her
made the heart swell
beneath her chest
but at this stage..this age
love must be put to the test
does she have the emotional patience
after so many tries?
what lies beyond the butterflies?
will it be another tale of alibis vs lies?
is he another puppet master?
are his strings the new ties
that bind?
her love is blind but deeply felt
she needs justification
vindication
any indication this is the real deal
it feels real..but still
time peels back all layers
and with no soothsayers to be found
all a girl can do
is hope her prayers are answered
and he turns out not to be
another form of cancer
that needs to be cut
and she can say to her gut {intuition]
in victorious fashion
see..i told you so

The self-fulfilling prophecy trait...I used to be on quite familiar terms with this one. At some point I learned to not raise or lower expectations, just let things be and see where it leads. But if that little gut noise is screaming, I don't even go there. Expectations are always the death of hopes, it seems.

Naaj, my gut has always whispered to me and admittedly, during many, many times my desire to see and find the good has shushed it...and I've always come to regret it...oddly enough though, there is a big part of me that feels I never had a choice anyway...the Fates had already mapped out what I'd do and that was for a reason...reasons which gift knowledge and a lesson...a lesson to stop doing that shit, lol....powerful ink my friend...or speaks loudly to me...
