Image for the poem MUTE

MUTE

I am frozen by the fire
Ever gazing
The song of this dark morning
Remembering

In its light embraced
My heart is misplaced

And I lean back into
The waterline
Of torpor I could teach you
Just give it time

I found what was stolen
From the roundhouse
To be chaste in hell
And with drapery bound

The Satan within you
I can already avail

In this torrential rift
I can hardly tell
Are you crying?

I fall...
Reach for her from the circle
She spoke for the first time

'Why?'

Ashes displaced
A trail of white upon the floor
And a fallen dagger

Head in hands
She was gone, but it was me
Who was alone

I touch, mute palm the pane
Take away my pain
My soul on the other side
Aflame

End me
