Image for the poem summer

summer's wildflowers

i meditate on the wildflowers
free as the wind
drinking in the sun
decorating the hillsides
bringer of peace to my mind

if they can grow
among weed & rock
may it also be with me
bloom where planted
a wise man once said

i raise my sunflower face
let grace shine upon it
that i might grow nourishing seed
no longer a tare
in the wilderness

let my soul be gentle
as a cool summer breeze
refreshing to the souls it caresses
may i blossom among the brambles
bring beauty to the land

i meditate on the wildflowers
the heavens have kissed them
with morning dew
so it is with my being
