Frustration
Do you ever
Feel that welling up,
That feeling of being
pressed down on
your shoulders,
that strange knot
in the pit of your stomach
do you ever
feel the need
to ring your hands
or frantically, uneasily
stroke your hair
like it might
suddenly fall out
but it doesn’t
do you ever
stare out the window,
looking at nothing
for hours, that feel
like minutes or seconds
or rock in a rocking chair
you don’t even posses.
Emotion in motion
Involuntary movements
do you ever
feel the darkness
of a lit room
or feel your own death
creep up on you
without batting an eye
or feeling fearful,
not caring if death
comes calling, today
do you ever
feel that your emotions
have no basis in logic,
no rhyme or reason
you start to get angry
or annoyed with self,
feeling so strange,
for not being normal,
not feeling normal
Today I burst into
floods of tears, such like
I thought they’d never stop.
When they did stop
I couldn’t, for the life of me,
Work out the reason why
Frustration can be
really frustrating
Do you ever feel that

is that not just a cure to stop you crying when you're chopping onions :-p

Re: Re. Frustration
"Whose crying?" = those who chop onions.
Who is sexually frustrated?
What has any of this to do with a poem's critique?

LOL - I was once told that crying in the bath was a bit like being in a submarine that's been hit - but I get what you mean that relaxation may indeed help :-) thanks for the read and the kindly comments :-)

I feel it a lot actually. It may simply be the fear of being alive. When you're alive, you're stuck with it, bound by its rules & regulations as well.

You may well have something there - it does feel like being bound up, possibly a prison of ones own making :-( thank you for your caring and positive input :-)

David, mo Chara...What an honest expression of emotions! ( Sooo many of your readers/friends can identify with some --if not all--of these feelings.) Suddenly, our lives can become extremely overwhelming, and w/ o warning, or explanation, we lose emotional self-control.
(The final lines, of your 3rd stanza, are especially significant for me... working with children on the Autism spectrum, i observe these similar, stimming behaviors. My heart always goes out to them, as they struggle to cope with their frustrations.)
This one resonates deeply!

Life is certainly strange - it's funny, it almost makes me want to believe in god in that there are things beyond logical or reasoned explanation. The feeling of losing control, I think, is the scariest one of all :-(
thank you for your understanding and kind comments :-)

I identify with the last three stanzas the most... Very relatable. Frustration is indeed frustrating! The last stanza touches on something so important, at least to me. I have found that not many people understand that sometimes floods of tears are because one is overwhelmed and confused, they just tend to think something is wrong with you, and they are convinced you should have the answers as to what that is. They do not get that it is not having the answers that is the problem! This is why I prefer to keep emotions like this away from others who I'm unsure about, cuz reactions like that are 100% unhelpful. But thank you for this. I'm glad I am not alone in feeling this way.
Really liked this honest expression, sucks you had one of those days. I did too a few days ago. Ugh emotions! lol.

you hit the nail right on the head - it is not having the answer why that is the problem :-)
As you say, many people feel this way, few talk about it - thank you for your wise words and sharing your experience :-)

David my friend, I felt as if you have been a fly on the many rooms of my house, including the one in the bathroom while I was in the tub (girls I guess find this a soothing place to lose it if we stay with My Beautiful Ballerina's thought processes)....I have been feeling all of these emotions you speak of to the point I don't want to feel anymore...I want this in my damned RL but I was told I'm all filled up...know you [un]forthnately are not alone...there is always an ear and shoulder here for you...
Hugs to you by the millions!

I suppose the main sadness of this piece is that these feelings are all too common - It's the uncontrollable nature that, for me, is the worst :-( Thank you so much for your understanding and support :-) infinite hugs on their way :-p

Holy cats! Absolutely yes, this is all familiar territory you've described here. I tend to retreat to the shower and have a good cry where the tears are washed as they fall and my head doesn't feel so stuffy and sore when I'm done. Hot water will replenish eventually. Oddly enough, my cats seem to notice it's coming before I do...they suddenly make themselves very accessible for petting. It's comforting, somehow. When all else is uncertainty and anxiety, knowing they've got me...it helps. Feeling the pain in this one...

the tears and the shower really feel symbolic of cleansing. It's weird you mention the cats thing - my dog tends to act a bit strange when I am sad - keeps bringing me his toys (he has a lot of toys) :-) thank you for understanding - it means a lot :-)
