The last night

Walking along the beautiful sea,
With the silent night,
With the bright shining moon,
With the thousand stars, yet alone,
I saw my lady in my sight.

Donned in a shiny armour,
The moon reflecting her strength,
The sea beneath her feet,
Her eyes gleaming, sparkling,
Screaming with a thousand silent words.

I may be dreaming,
I may be hallucinating.
But I didn’t want it to stop.
The burnt grass was taking over,
My mind, my brain, my conscious.

She lifted her arms in the air,
As she sang a melody,
A song perhaps,
Which I didn’t know
I didn’t understand.

Enchanted, mesmerised, I waited,
I waited for her not to finish,
I waited for her to explain,
I waited for her come into my arms.
But I waited in vain.

I wanted to run,
Towards her, away from her, somewhere.
But my frozen legs refused to obey,
My blank mind denied to command,
My disloyal heart failed to understand.

I saw her moving,
I saw her gliding,
Over the fresh waters of the ocean,
Like a beautiful butterfly,
Breaking out of its cocoon.

I asked her to wait,
I demanded her to stop.
I pleaded her to stay
Or take me along.
But she didn’t wait, didn’t stop, didn’t stay.

I fell to the cold sand,
As I saw her leave,
Away and further away.
And I was left there, alone.
Even my loneliness betrayed me.
