The Good Fight

I thought I was fighting by myself.
All by myself.
I thought some more.
And I discovered something.
You were there.
All along.
It was you who fought for me.
I never fought.
I sat and watched as you fought my demons.
This darkness that I’m too weak to vanquish.
You fought your heart out for me.
But I can’t do anything to repay you.
Your love transformed me.
And yet you remained the same, never changed.
You remained the same, and never changed.
Your love transformed me.
But I can’t do anything to repay you.
You fought your heart out for me.
This darkness that I’m too weak to vanquish.
I sat and watched as you fought my demons.
I never fought.
It was you who fought for me.
All along.
You were there.
And I discovered something.
I thought some more.
All by myself.
I thought I was fighting by myself.
