Alyssa

Middle age, losing my purpose
Or so it seemed, but resurfaced
A maiden took me into her fold
Was half my age, but on me she was sold.

She taught me to smile and live again
And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten.

We talked about love that was lost
How even the young still pay the cost
I finally gave in aft' much perseverance
From my sad state she became my deliverance.

She taught me to smile and live again
And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten.

She wanted me to feel young again
To forget my pain, then we'd both win
Think we're all middle age crazy now and then
What I would give to be nineteen again.

(BREAK)

(on new start .... )
She taught me to smile and live again
And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten.

We parted ways, said it was best
Now I can say, like all the rest
She did bring out the rebel in me
I still have it, not just fantasy.

She taught me to smile and live again
And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten.

Even after all these years, I still miss her
And what she gave me, I was not her chore.

She taught me to smile and live again
And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten ....

And she said I don't need
To drink you up to a ten.

------------------------------

A song about mid-life crises.
And the woman half his age who 'makes him live again'.

We all need this at some point ....

(folk ballad)
