Teacup    - - - for the It’s a knockout Comp

It was all a storm in a teacup
It was all just a fad
Just a silly phase
Teenage angst
Raging against the man
Left wing rebellion
She’d get over it
Yeah, she’d get over it
They all do, right?
Right?
She’d got over the drug thing
Even got over the drink thing
She no longer slept with him
She had an expensive shrink
That eating disorder temporary
Bi-polar, just a label, right?
What we didn’t see
What we couldn’t see
Was the internal storm
The grey swirling clouds of despair
The rolling waves of elation
Hopelessness and helplessness
Combined with euphoria
And the realism of delirium
All this under the surface
All this we couldn’t see
We genuinely believed
It was all a storm in a teacup
It would all blow away
How wrong can parents be
How blind and disconnected
The storm was real and present
And this realisation only came
As we laid her to rest
In a brass handled wooden box
No longer a storm in a teacup
