as pharaoh cocks his bow and arrow
just know it was a twisted form of hydraulic despotism
from the very beginning
an unspoken pact between the 'king and eye'
...
easily i bled for you without hesitation
left my Frankenstein-stitched heart dangling on a sleeve
for you to sink your teeth into and
suckle upon this tainted love time and again
but see
i was born without a warning label
that should've read
'BEWARE OF SUDDEN DROUGHTS'
and right there you'd feel
this once raging tsunami of unadulterated affections
come to a screeching halt
as sentiments laced with salt dehydrate your soul
i glare at you
from the vantage point of my nexus
floating somewhere between compassion and contempt
as a wayward ghost
that lone inhabitant of your shell
mocking you while sipping from my once-golden goblet
getting punch drunk on narcissistic libations
a complex I've yet to conquer
thanks in part to your ego-filibustering tactics
take a bow my lady of many nights
there's room under the bus
for both of us
submerge beneath the echoes of encore! encore!
hailing from the gods and goddesses
of misogyny and misandry
watch them squirm with restlessness in the gallery of judgement
as they wait with childish eagerness
for act # 423
and here you are
diligent you standing vigilant upon the arid terrain of us
tending to those trickles of fickle feelings with unwavering faith
until that dam[n] of unrepentant scorn
bursts once again and flood your entire being with
sworn testimonies of my love
...
