Unfading

I do more than just crave your laugh or smile.
I just want your presence wrapped around me
Like a blanket. With every moment and mile
Stretched out long between us you hold the key
To my heart. My happiness is brighter and
Whatever we have because of that is stronger.
I still feel the warmth of your chest and heart.
I wish that we could hang onto this longer
With the moments and memories beginning
To fade away. There is the hard push and slam
Of the waves. Darling, you are imprinting
Every part of yourself onto me as I am
Doing the same to you. Your entire being,
From your mind to your toes and beyond
Is all I could ever want. Even as we are aging,
None of it matters because this bond
And connection will never disappear from sight.
All I could ever want is our infinite light.
