Seasons

The sun shined rays of hope until
it scorched us with it's heat
the skies welled up and turned to rain
until they turned to sleet

when all that lived had seemed to die
into its gloom we slid
the rays of hope had turned to lies
so in our homes we hid

the rays had turned to bitter cold
and shortened with the days
I felt there was no turning back
as we both parted ways

but now those rays are warm once more
and flowers are in bloom
the beauty can be seen again
it's time to leave our rooms

I know that I can't stop the rain
but it's still not so bad
it's looking even better now
then what we ever had

those rays of hope may blind our eyes
and scorch us with their heat
but we'll be warm together when
those raindrops turn to sleet

when those rays turn to bitter cold
and shorten with the days
I’m sure we'll be okay this time
I know we’ll find a way
