newborn
I go where my muse leads
she never allows me to
lose my way
she takes me to heights unseen
with poetic wings
I see vistas not known
to human eyes
lay witness to creation itself
in all of its wonder
see a baby take her first breath
in human skin
a star from heaven
meant to complete its journey
in the mortal realm
the zen masters
as they meditate & chant their prayers
in the holiest of holies
the tip top of the mountains
where only God abides
with poetry in my heart
I am allowed in this sacred place
when I am inconsolable
my heart reaches
to the furthest parts of space
where there is no light
no stars, moon or sun
it's not needed
the presence of God is here
his countenance shines bright
in his inner sanctum
I am at peace
as I lie face down at his throne
in the home of the true King

Whether it's a god or the universe or something else, being able to reach out and feel the grace of it filling you is a beautiful, enriching thing. For me it's nature. She fills my soul when I need it most. So beautiful, lovely Angel

"Take" in the first line of the second verse needs an "s" after it ("she takes me"). I like the spiritual nature of this poem; it's mystical and transcendent, using the longing-for-something-more of the narrator to take the reader into fantastic spaces.

My Beautiful Brenda, the beauty in you is in your answering to whatever higher power speaks to you, whether shining light or trapping you in darkness...each one has their purpose and you shine brightly with this one my love.

I really enjoyed this - it gives me something that doesn't come easy - a belief in something greater - nature always felt that way more than religion - I have no faith left, but I do stand in awe of the power of nature :-)
excellent ink - hugs :-)
