EGO, SOMNUM EXTERRERI IV: PREY

Dark expanse, ever vast
Effervescent, rising fast
Found a reason I could live
Heart of sand to slowly sieve

I drown to appease, to peel
Yet through acedia veil
Rancor turns the rusted wheel

To feel alive
Others must die

Threaded by a spool of guilt
You are nothing to me
I weave fingers between
As I rob cohesion

And you would let me
Underneath disapproval
There lay a desire
To be hurt

Broken glass, your collapse
Ankles fettered, tongue is crass
Found the symptoms I would give
A sickness they won't forgive

Vultures gather high
To wait
Above the path that I walk

And the siren afar
Screams from a distance
Balms my silent scars
But gone in an instant

Diluted by laughter
