Image for the poem A Lover

A Lover's Serenade

My fingers touch the dormant strings
Making silent vibrations quiver with sound
My heart opens up unfurling its wings
Lifting my soul high off the trembling ground

My heart pounds with an endless beat
Reflecting the trembling within my hands
The song is played until it's complete
Which leads to new beginnings in exotic lands

On paper, as a scenic esplanade
My feelings transformed into words that I write
But on this guitar with a serenade
Love is in the air when my poetry takes flight
