There are many who think n feel this way
I believe if you write from your heart n soul
n if your unafraid of whatever you express, ultimately you will spill something poetic... :)...good ink lady :)

Thanks for the read.  Yes it is about believing in yourself and keeping it real.

This poem was bourn out of frustration with my own inability to write the kind of material that my peers seem to be writing. However, I guess it's a mistake to compare different poets writing styles.

Not bad for a new poet ;). Although it's simple, it's creative and aspiring. I think if you keep up the writing, you'll get where you want to be some day!

Thank you NewBeginnings. I'll have a long wait but thanks for your belief. I would like to develop & hopefully evolve into being a better writer in future, that is for sure.  

I made a poem very much like this one, the title was the same except mine was If You Were a Poet, and it's more like a romantic poem than it is introspective.  I love yours, I sense like a longing to be a poet, not like a craving but more like a dream. For what it's worth you obviously are a poet <3

Ahh, the optimism of youth... never give up! When does one become a poet? Perhaps when you bleed your first emotion on the page... perhaps you already are...

Poetry never requires a degree.  Not the poetry that people want to read, anyway.  Keep on writing. You are certainly talented!  

That's an interesting & encouraging comment PufumeandTaffy, thank you. Sometimes I wonder what people want to read. I know what I like reading & that is poetry that touches me, that reaches out & makes me ponder.

your poem has achieved the desired goal once. your poem is a commentary first and foremost. second, the simplicity of your poem is as eloquent as that perfect still between two people when they are both breathing quietly and calmly. to be fair and responsible, i believe your poem is extremely important. there are infinite possibilities in your poem

I am spelling out where I hope to be one day but describing the obstacles I see as being in the way.    
Yes, these barriers may be only of the mind but the mind can play tricks on our insecurity at times, I believe. Great comment JnMingr, thank you.  :-)

I guess there are a lot of us that feel somehow our poetry is not up to the mark in terms of its intellect, sophistication, call it what you will. Everyone's style is different so there is hope for us all somewhere. Thanks for your feedback presh. Purple. x

Hello Purpleheart. Wow, what can I say! This is an impressive piece of work. The way it is laid out really helps deliver the narrative here.
