Written Inside the Redoubt, a Fortress in Harwich
The earth is always claiming,
always taking back that which
we leave behind. Windows erupting
with foliage, daisies skirting
the centre mound. A stitch
in history to earth is just
more ground to seize and plant anew,
the turning of the world, the light,
making even bricks their own,
glass a new species of rose.
