Image for the poem among the waves

among the waves

take me to the sea
where I can lose myself
among the waves

sea salt licks my wounds
cauterizes the pain

I ache, yes even me
landlocked & weary
in need of the cool places

the sacred ones
to renew my spirit
damaged from life's trials

I chant quietly & meditate
until I can see
the tide pools
behold the starfish
that reside there

did you know
If you open
a sand dollar
there are doves inside?
so beautifully decorated

collecting tiny shells
along the shore
that the surf has gifted me

in this place I am safe
my mind is at rest

It's a magical kingdom
where Poseidon resides
take me into your gates
beneath the waves
