Old Men, Women and Children First -   - for Collateral damage comp

How easy is it to blow up
And rip apart, exploding
A five year old child
Well; they can’t fight back
They are always unarmed
They can’t run very fast
People say they are resilient
But not where bombs are used
They are the perfect targets
Strikes terror in all parents
Especially loving mothers
They are also easy to kill
They carry no guns
They don’t run either
Protect their children
An act of obvious futility
As the blast wave hits
Smashed and broken
Body parts; molten pools
Of human flesh and blood
There’s no more screaming
Just a terrible stench, an
Eerie silence is deafening
The earth is scorched
The buildings now rubble
140,000 unarmed people
Most unrecognisable
Old men, women
And children
Innocents always the
First to go, first to die
Hiroshima now remembered
We still stand erect and proud
We ended the war early
Saved lives, or at least
That’s what they say
There is simply never
A time where genocide
Of non combatants
It in any way acceptable
Unless you think that
Melting 140,000 people
Is just fine and dandy
Collateral damage
How sick we really are
