I'll Be Your Man

 
Love is what gives us life within – and I have been lifeless since birth. I have watched you dance into the morning with my demons far too long. Let me be the one to remind you of all the hidden stardust inside the chambers of your bones, along the corridors of your heart – allow me to remind you that nothing’s ever lost.

No matter the past memories, I promise to love you with a love that can never grow old. I’ll be your raft when the rivers of this world try to swallow you; I’ll be your night watchman when darkness comes, I will be your protector, your keeper. I’ll breathe the last oxygen reserved in the pockets of my lungs, just so you can see one more sunrise.

Show me your scars and I’ll kiss them goodbye. Let me be your shooting star – though fleeting, all I want to do is light up the sky with you; even if it’s only for a moment. I’ll be your cigarette on a cold morning; I’ll occupy your lungs with every inhale until there is no more of me you want.  I’ll write you a soliloquy that you’ll always keep in the chambers of your rustic and tranquil heart.

And when they ask “how long have you two been together”? We’ll reply “we don’t remember a time we weren’t”. I’ll bring all your wildest dreams into reality. “I’ll kiss your lips and you’ll feel the way you did during your childhood summers when nothing was wrong in the world”.

When the troubles of this world are out to harm you; I’ll be there. I shall honor thee with every hug, every kiss, and every touch – and when that time comes; I’ll be your man. But until then, I’ll toss my words into the ocean because keeping them locked in my head any longer would drive me insane.
