Forever Friends
So; you’ve fallen out
With a good friend
A really good friend
You’d been friends
For over 30 years
You voted for Hilary
They voted for Trump
You were so disgusted
You unfriended them
You called them names
Racist, Misogynist, Liar
Islam phobic, lunatic
You called them that
Knowing it wasn’t true
Guilty by association
Your peer pressure
To disavow the Trumper
This friend was the first
Of many souls to be
Dismissed from your list
Do you have any real idea
What a shallow fuck you are
What a triggered coward
An oxygen thief
A waste of skin
They should have unfriended you
They would have, had they known
What a stupid fucktard you were
That had no love for them
That you didn’t care about
You felt nothing, you were numb
How else could you have fired them
Without notice, just like Comey
You are not worth a single tear
Not another thought
All friends unfriended
Should kick the dust off
And move on, forgetting
They ever knew you
You worthless pile of wank
I would call you a cunt
But cunts are useful
You clearly are not
I hope you die alone

I tried to word the poem so that the roles could be reversed and still fit. Or if the disagreement was about an issue rather than a vote. I think true friends are rare :-( I am glad you liked this one :-) - hugs :-)

It seems the Trump/Hillary divide is tearing up families & friends across the USA - amazing. I have a good friend in exactly that situation. And it seems Brexit may be doing the same in the U.K.
I agree totally with the sentiments in your poem. It's like Victorians taking offence at a lady showing her ankle, or more currently some religious folk thinking a women should have her head covered and taking offence if she doesn't - and worse as in one of your previous poems. It can be depressing how little some people can cope emotionally with and/or tolerate differing viewpoints.

I think tolerance is the difference between a thinking person and an idiot. By tolerance I don't mean surrender. Tolerance and respect tempered with love prevent friends falling out over different views - if someone unfriends you for voting a certain way, they weren't your friend in the first place, at least not a true friend :-) thank you again for the read and the wise words :-)

To me losing a friend through a disagreement seems so trite. Agree to disagree but disagree to part, is the best thing to do.:) David.
