Parallel Me

Parallel Me

My name was Kate
I remember her well...
A Daughter of originality
She painted the walls of great cathedrals red...
Danced in the fountains of Italy
At only 18 she wound up dead
Dear Kate what a horrible tragedy

The people who loved her
Gave her to a funeral pyre
They remember her young body in flames
Those  who just remember me however ....
Call me by this name

I remember her family
And miss their love and affection
My Mother then was beautiful
My Father showered me with attention

My parents now are strangers
I hardly speak to them at all
My Mother bitches at me endlessly
My Father is as boring as he is bald..

So why wouldn't I want to remember Kate
All pretty and effervescent
Splashing up waters in Florence
After painting some church in Venice
Today...this self ...
.....Bored to tears
No social life to mention
Longing for my former years
And all the good attention
