Picking Bread off the Air

"While we sit here a footstool now forgotten".
I love this line....

We hoist to heights our politicians, but as soon as they are set, we are forgotten...:) dustyjjewels, thank you for reading me.

His ambitions were realized, but at whose cost?  If he needed to use others as a footstool his position is ill earned.  I almost think of a vampire in the third stanza, but he's more likely to be a human predator.  Beautiful lines and art Grace, well laid out.
