Image for the poem Forger’s Lament

Forger’s Lament

In the space of small
mere inches wide
lay beauty’s face
in portrait’s frame

with likeness true
copy imbued
with love’s imprint
last image’s grief

diminutive
the final likeness
not my love
forger’s lament
